Spring Has Sprung … and so have my allergies // Book Tag

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog!

Today I am doing the Spring has Sprung book tag because even though it hasn’t stopped raining in the last two weeks spring has indeed sprung.

Like almost everyone else I’m not aloud to leave my house right now so the allergies are being kept at bay but it’s only a matter of time before the three months of constant sneezing and watering eyes begin. Yay.

Flowers – All the flowers we remember are blooming again. Pick a book that’s a fresh take on a retelling.

I haven’t read many retellings but I do have a fair few on my TBR including Geekerella by Ashley Poston which I may or may not have bought the e-book of the other night. I don’t know much about this but I know it’s a Cinderella retelling with fandom themes which for a huge nerd like me seems like a fun time. I also know it features a food truck called the Magic Pumpkin which sounds cute!

Cadbury Mini Eggs- Obviously the superior springtime chocolate of choice. Pick a book that you consider to be a sweet treat.

First of all: big fat yesss to Mini Eggs being the best!!!

Less a book more of an author but I really love Jenn Bennetts contemporary novels. They’re such easy reads, the main characters all have something unique about them and even with all the cutness and fluffiness there’s more things at play. I’m currently readin Seriously Moonlight and loving it! Continue reading “Spring Has Sprung … and so have my allergies // Book Tag”

❄Top 5 Books I Read This Winter❄

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog!

Spring is officially in session and honestly it’s annoying me already. My allergies are flaring up but it’s also still flu and cold season so what pills do I take!?

Anyways moving on from my stinging eyes and sneezing fits today I’m going to be talking about the best books I read this past winter. I feel like I’ve had a solid three months in terms of reading but my favourite’s really weren’t hard to pick.

Call Down the Hawk by Maggie Stiefvater

9781407194462

It took me forever to get my hands on this book: 2 years of wait and anticipation for the release, a month for Amazon to send it to me and then when I finally started reading it I got hit with nearly 3 weeks of exams and school work but god was it worth the wait.

It took me a second (aka 100+ pages) to warm up to the new characters but by the end of it I would die for Jordan Hennessy and, strangely enough, Declan Lynch. Can you believe it!

This book was as whimsical, magical and down right weird as I was expecting but also so much more and I cannot wait for the sequel. Continue reading “❄Top 5 Books I Read This Winter❄”

Above & Beyond Expectations // Top 5 Tuesday

aaaa

Hi, hey, hello and happy Tuesday 🙂

I skipped last weeks top 5 Tuesday because I’m terrible at time management but I’m back this week and I have no fancy pancy introduction because it’s nearly midnight and I still have homework to do for tomorrow so let’s just jump right in to books that exceeded my expectations!

Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Shannah @ Bionic Book Worm

Little White Lies by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

I loved The Naturals series by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, it’s genuinely one of my favourite series and it’s one of the series that got me into reading but I was hesitant going into this book.

I knew I was going to like it but it took me by surprise just how much I liked it. I’m from East Yorkshire and yet this book had me reading in a southern belle like accent as I flew through this book. I haven’t picked up the sequel and I don’t know if I’m going to but I did really enjoy this more then I was expecting. Continue reading “Above & Beyond Expectations // Top 5 Tuesday”

January Wrap Up

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog 🙂

January is finally over. I’m not trying to wish my life away or anything but January has just felt like the longest month ever.

This month has included: my mum talking about divorce causing my anxiety to flare worse then it has in months (thank fuck that’s all ok now), my bio dad just seemed to forget I existed and someone really close to me and my family is in hospital. And if that wasn’t enough there was also talks of World War III, a whole country on fire, and now a virus spreading across the globe. And through it all I’ve just been like:

this

We’re really living in apocalyptic times my dudes.

Thankfully the one thing that went well this month though is my reading! And really thats all that matters.

I managed to read 5 books this month and pretty decent, hefty books too. I set myself a TBR this month and I’m thrilled to say I managed to tick some of those off so without further ado …

Beating the big books // January TBR

hellop

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog 🙂

It’s time to set in stone a list of books I promise to read this month … and then inevitably don’t. Just kidding.

So today I’m talking about my January TBR and I wasn’t originally planning on having a TBR this month but I have a list worked out in my head that I’m pretty happy with so why not share it.

I don’t like big books and I cannot lie

I finished Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo the other week and was infused with the sense of “yeah, I can read big adult books” and so although that feeling is fading as th days pass I’m sticking to it and I’ve got two previously intimidating books here on this TBR.

The “Get to Know Me” Book Tag // My 1 Year Blogger-versary!!!

Hi, hello and welcome to my blog!

Today is a day of celebration. It’s been a whole year since I started this blog.

It’s my bloggerversary and I’m probably spelling that extremely wrong but I feel like terrible spelling is a staple of my blogposts. To celebrate it being a year of me being annoying as hell I decided to do the “Get to know me” Book Tag because in the beginning I never really talked about myself because anxiety 🙂

A little bit about me

My names Elli. I’m 17 and originally from East Yorkshire with the accent to prove it but I’ve been living in Spain since I was ten (although I do not have the tan to prove that). This September I start the Spanish equivalent of 6th form and I am shitting myself.

I have three siblings, two brothers and a sister, all younger, two of which live back in the UK. I also have three pets who I would die for: Fudge, Poppet and Kit-Kat.

And now that you’ve been blessed with these incredible and majestic photos let’s jump into the tag: Continue reading “The “Get to Know Me” Book Tag // My 1 Year Blogger-versary!!!”

I like big books and I cannot lie ..

How very unoriginal of me I know. Today’s topic as you can guess is biggest books on my TBR. I actually don’t have many super big books, I managed to get through a bunch of them last year: Illuminae, Winter, etc.

But here we go.  All topics can be found hereContinue reading “Biggest Books on my TBR // Top 5 Wednesday”
