Karen M. McManus doesn’t disappoint // One of Us Is Next + You’ll Be the Death of Me.

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹

Back in 2017 Karen M. McManus published her debut novel One of Us is Lying, a YA thriller that took four, stereotypical teenagers stuck in detention together and threw them into the centre of a murder investigation where they’re all suspects.

I remember this book being all over the book-esphere, you genuinely couldn’t escape it and I ended up reading it in March of 2018 and loved it! There was something so addictive about the writing and the mystery, same goes for McManus’ sophomore novel: Two Can Keep a Secret.

After loving her first two books I vowed to keep up with all her future releases … and then didn’t. I’m three behind: One of Us is Next, The Cousins, and You’ll Be the Death of Me.

I’m here to fix that today because I’m reading One of Us is Next and then I’m gonna dive straight into You’ll Be the Death of Me. Exciting! Not gonna be reading and reviewing The Cousins anytime soon because I don’t have a copy but maybe I’ll do another joint review when the next McManus book comes out.

One of Us Is Next

*this is a sequel so possible spoilers for One of Us is Next”

One of Us is Next is actually the sequel to One of Us is Lying. It’s set a year after the events of the first book when the new craze at Bayview High is a twisted game of Truth or Dare: do the Dare or have a Truth revealed to the entire school.

Authors A-Z: K-L-M-N-O // Top 5 Tuesday

aaaa

Hi, hey, hello and happy Tuesday!

So today we’re back for another round of Authors A-Z ๐Ÿ™‚ But first โ€ฆ Lockdown Update. Feel free to skip to the good bits but I think it would be pretty cool to have this documented because everything that’s going on right now is crazy.

  • Today is day 2 or day 3 of lockdown? I don’t actually know when it officially began but no family arguments have kicked off yet.
  • Online classes are … great? Yesterday morning I woke up at 8. Stayed in bed to check my french class at 8:30. Showered super chill before doing my Latin homework for that day then did Latin & Greek class over WhatsApp for 2 hours. Fun.
  • I’m sending TikToks to anyone and everyone. I may be addicted.
  • I finished an ARC and I’m watching the last episode of Elite season 2 as I type.
  • We played Monopoly. I won. Nobody cried. A miracle!
  • And a super sweet thing everyone is doing is at 8pm we all go out on our balconies and give a huge, well deserved round of applause to the medical personal.

But anyways, moving on from that. Let’s jump into authors K-O

Instant Buy Authors

Hello and welcome to my blog ๐Ÿ™‚

Today I’m going to be talking about a few of my Instant Buy Authors. I will be leaving out the more obvious ones like Rick Riordan and Cassandra Clare. I sold my soul to these two authors years ago and it doesn’t need to be mentioned again.

But joining the ranks of “people who own my soul” are:

1- Karen M. McManus

The Harry Potter Spells Book Tag

large (1)

Hello and welcome back to my blog ๐Ÿ™‚

Today I thought I’d do a book tag, my first of the year.

As you can telly by the title I am doing the Harry Potter Spells tag created by Kimberly Faye Reads.

tag

Back in late November/early December I accomplished the impossible and convinced my mum to read the Harry Potter series. She came to love it so much thatย  she made me and my brother watch the movie of whichever of the books she’d just finished.

This year I want to complete my reread of the series which I started last year by reading the final 4 books accept after watching all my faves die on screen, I’m not finding myself all that motivated to pick up the books and read about their deaths. I’m hoping this tag will bring out my inner potterhead.

Rainy Day Book Tag๐ŸŒง

Yes another book tag! School is crazy right now and that’s seriously cutting into my reading time which means I have nothing to review/talk about.

The weather here in ‘Sunny Spain’ has not being living up to it’s name recently. I was literally locked out of school in the rain, about to be late for a really important exam yesterday and so I thought why not do The Rainy Day Book Tag?

This tag was created by That Bookie Continue reading “Rainy Day Book Tag๐ŸŒง”
