Which popular YA character am I?

Hi πŸ™‚

I don’t know about you but I have become mildly obsessed with online quizzes recently.

It started during lockdown when very niche and specific quizzes were going around Tumblr and I needed entertainment during my Zoom classes, but now I go on Facebook to catch up on the family drama and end up down the dark hole of Buzzfeed quizzes finding out what my midnight snack says about me.

And so I’ve decided to turn this new found waste of time into content!

Today I am going to be finding out what character I am from 5 popular YA series such as: Twilight, Harry Potter, The Percy Jackson series, The Mortal Instruments and The Hunger Games thanks to online quizzes I’m sure are 100% accurate.

From Twilight I am … Jessica Stanley

Ok. I wasn’t expecting this but I don’t hate it (although I don’t know how much of that is me just really loving Anna Kendrick) πŸ˜‚

I think Jessica gets quite a bit of hate online but I feel like she’s a pretty accurate representation of your average teenage girl. I mean if my friend got married straight out of high school to the town wierdos I’d be asking questions and gossiping too.

The quiz I took.

Translating my favourite books into Emojis!

Helloooo.

So this is 100% not my own original idea!!! I was tagged recently by Sabrina @ Notes From a Paper Plane Nomad to do the Liebster Award recently and one of the questions she’d given for me to answer was: Translate the title of your favourite book into emojis! Or even a gifset!

I loved this question so much that I decided to do it for a few more books! But yes, all credit goes to Sabrina cause she’s the one with the amazing brain who came up with this πŸ™‚

Harry Potter: βš‘πŸ°πŸš‚πŸ§™β€β™‚οΈ

We’ve got a lightning bolt for Harry’s scar, what I hope you also see as a castle which clearly represents Hogwarts, an old timey train for the Hogwarts Express, and a wiz-end old sorcerer that has a remarking resemblance to Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore.

Percy Jackson: πŸ§œβ€β™‚οΈπŸ—‘β›ΊπŸŒŠπŸ™

Percy is the son of the sea-god Poseidon who in some of the images I just googled has a mermaid like tail so there we go. That’s Poseidon. Then we have a sword for Riptide, the closest thing I could get to camping which represents Camp Half-Blood, a wave because … water ??? and the praying emoji because the neglected demigod kids pray to their godly parents quite a lot throughout the books. Opening Lines // Top 5 Tuesday

aaaa

Hellooo πŸ™‚ So lockdown was officially lifted here in Spain (for the most part) and as of yesterday my province is finally in phase 1 meaning bars and restaurants are aloud to open which is exciting. I am surrounded by bars where I live and so after two months of dead silence it’s super weird to hear so many people outside.

Anyways today I am back for another round of Top 5 Tuesday. I skipped last week because I was totally stumped. This weeks topic is Top 5 Opening Liners. I just spent the last ten minutes opening up all the books in my room so let’s get started.

Cutest Romances // Top 5 Tuesday

aaaa

Ugh. It’s one of those days today. One of those days where I could quite happily stay in bed all day, not talking to anyone, not doing anything.

But alas school work calls and my teachers continue to haunt me through emails.

A bright spot in today though is that I’m going to be talking all about the Cutest RomancesπŸ’•.

Persephone & Hades (Lore Olympus by Rachel Smythe)

This web comic was all over my Goodreads last week and I was intrigued so I started reading and I love this so much. It’s a retelling of the Persephone and Hades where they’re still gods but it has a more modern twist to it.

Not only is the artwork so beautiful that each chapter I’m blown away but the plot is just as good. I’m not even up to these two being official yet but already the cuteness level is high and I can’t wait to read on.

If you’re interested in reading this you can read it on Here on WebToon Continue reading “Cutest Romances // Top 5 Tuesday”

April Wrap Up

Helloooo πŸ™‚

I don’t know how but it’s that time again where I talk all about the books I read this month. I had a pretty lofty TBR for April and I read approximately two of those books.

My reading was pretty all over the place this month and in terms of quantity but sadly it was pretty “meh” in terms of quality. Because of how random the books are I’ve split them into groups to try and bring some order to this wrap up.

The “meh” books.

The first book I read this month was Serious Moonlight by Jenn Bennett and it was disappointing. I did a whole review for it but in short: I love Jenn Bennett but I didn’t love this book. It liked the representation: a hard of hearing boy with Japanese heritage and a girl with narcolepsy, but I didn’t care much about the romance. There wasn’t much chemistry between the characters, Birdie and Daniel, at least compared to other Bennett books, and they felt kind of cringey at times.

I was in the mood for some cheesy “oh my god I have superpowers” and “oh my god I’m the most powerful witch to ever exist” read and so I read The Lost Witch by Chandelle LaVaun. . I was hoping for a guilty pleasure read but I basically skim read this. It just wasn’t what I wanted and I barely remember anything that happened (besides lots of characters with very modern American names). Continue reading “April Wrap Up”

The High School Musical Book Tag (aka me living my best life)

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog.

I am doing something super exciting today: The High School Musical Book Tag.

High School Musical was my entire Childhood! I had a HSM lunch box, a Gabriella doll, all the DVDs and CDs (including the concert version) which I played on a loop, my primary school had a High School Musical singing club and we performed “Breaking Free” during an assembly and I went to cinema to watch the third movie.

I watched these movies so much that even my parents know all the words.Β

And so believe me when I say I jumped up and down in my chair with excitement (which I’m only slightly ashamed of) when I found out this was a book tag that existed.

I tried finding the original creator to this tag but I think that post has since been deleted because I can’t find it. Either way I’m super excited though to re-live my childhood today and combine it with books!

The Start of Something New: A new favourite genre/author/series

sosn

A new favourite author of mine is definitely Erin Hahn. I fell in love with her debut novel You’d Be Mine last year and my love for her multiplied when I read her sophomore novel More Than Maybe a month or two back. She writes such entertaining books filled with humour and music. I can’t wait for it’s official release and to read more from her. #StayHomeReadingRush Wrap Up

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog!

stayhomeThe weekend happened. It went by fast but maybe that’s because I have no concept of time at this point. Fun.

Anyways the #StayHomeReadingRush happened this weekend too and I participated. It was a super last minute decision and I had homework to catch up on because even though I have nothing to do all day I’m still stuck in my procrastinating ways.

I had hoped to read three books this weekend and I finished two. I’m pretty happy with that. Sure it’s not the best but it was fun and I’m gonna wrap the weekend up and make it seem slightly more interesting then it actually was. Continue reading “#StayHomeReadingRush Wrap Up”

#StayHomeReadingRush TBR

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog.

I have decided to take part in the #Stay Home Reading Rush which runs from today, 16th April till the 19th. I’ve seen this floating around and I really wasn’t going to take part in it so this is a very last minute decision.

My third term of school started back up this week. I said I was going to be productive this term, make good of a bad situation by using the home-school aspect to get really good grades. I’m barely a week in and I’ve already procrastinated all my assignments until the last possible second so I don’t know how well I’m going to do in this mini readathon but I’m going to give it a try.

Read a book with a house on the cover – Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan.Β

I’m taking extreme liberties with this one. The Spanish edition of this book, the edition that I’m reading, has the New York skyline in the distant background … which has apartments … which I am classing as a house because I’ve already started it and want an excuse to finish it.

I mean I live in an apartment and I call it “my house” all the time so yes I’m cheating but it’s okay. Continue reading “#StayHomeReadingRush TBR”

Books that made me laugh // Top 5 Tuesday

aaaa

Hi, hey, hello and happy Tuesday!

Today’s Top 5 Tuesday topic is: Books that made me laugh and I have a disclaimer before getting into the list: I have a terrible memory so these may not be as funny as I remember, I also have a terrible sense of humour. I blame my dad for this. We have a running joke about chickens wearing flipflops so … Be Warned.

Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm

Again But Better by Christine Riccio

This book wasn’t funny on purpose but it was funny none the less from the name of the love interest: Pilot Penn, to the terrible metaphors you can’t help but laugh at. The fun of the book doesn’t end with the last page either because the reviews for this because are just as entertaining.

The Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan

I’ve not re-read these in a while and it’s something I’ve really been wanting to do recently. My problem however is that I let someone borrow the first book years ago and I never got it back so now I’m 1 book down. I’m genuinely considering just starting from book 2 because these books are so funny even if they are geared at a younger audience they always make me laugh. Happy Easter // Book Tag πŸ°πŸŒΈ

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog.

So yesterday was Easter something I didn’t realise until I skyped my 5 year old sister and she showed me her mountain of Easter Eggs. I’m not religious or anything but I live opposite a church so it’s weird not to hear the bells ring a million times a day or watch the parade that leaves from there.

Anyways today I am going to be doing the Easter Time Book Tag, originally created by Theresa @ The Calico Books … and then I’m going to go eat my own chocolate egg.

Easter Eggs: Name a book that feels like a hidden gem

I really haven’t seen many people talk about talk about These Witches Don’t Burn by Isabelle Sterling which is wrong because it’s gay elemental witches with great humour.

On one hand I’m glad I get to keep it all to myself but on the hand I want everyone to read this ASAP!

Bloom: A debut novel you loved.

I’ve loved way more debut novels then I even realised so in the face of a long list I’m going with my most recent which was The Devouring Grey by Christine Lynn Herman.Β

This wasn’t the best book in the world but it was fun and I raced through it in one day.

I’m also currently re-reading Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston and I refuse to believe this is a debut because it’s just so good!
