Books I wanted to recommend for my YA Lit class

Hello. I’m writing to you from the back of my YA Lit class. Last week we had to propose a book to add to the sylabus to read this month and I recommended As Many Nows as I Can Get by Shana Youngdahl … and it was just voted in.

I recommended this book for various reasons: it’s a story about that transition from high school to college with these characters reailsing that, while they were the stars in their hometown, they’re now just another fish in the sea. We see these characters battle with drug addictions – as an addict and as somebody close to an addict, and it also has a teen pregnancy plotline. While many serious topics are brought up, it’s never glamourised and always depicts a realistic representation of such things.

The other reason I recommended it is because I just loved this book and will happily take any opportunity to read it again or force other people to read. Now, however, I’m scared that (if the bookstore is able to stock it), my class is going to read it and hate it.

So anyways, this is the book I proposed and it was actually my first choice but it has made me think: what other YA books would I recommend for this class?

Vampires are back baby!

Hi and howdy, welcome to my blog.

Today we are discussing something incredibly important: Vampires!! There has been an insurgence of vampires in Young Adult fiction recently and I am living for it!

I’ve loved vampires for a long time now, to the point where I used to tell my parents I wanted to be one when I grew up, and while my goals in life have thankfully changed, I have been loving the new influx of vampire centred stories.

And so with Halloween just a couple of days away I thought it would be perfect to discuss what I loved about past vampire stories and what I’m loving about the newest depictions and takes on the classic bloodsuckers.

čĹ╗Halloween RecommendationsčĹ╗

Hellooo čśŐ

God it feels like forever since I’ve sat and written a post (it’s been like 5 days but let me be dramatic please). I took a couple of days because I was feeling burnt out and needed to not think about blogging for a little while but I’m back and I’ve got some recommendations!!

Today I’m here with a list of books that I think will make the perfect Halloween reads.

I don’t read proper “horror” novels, I’ve never read Stephen King and all the other classic horror authors. I’d like to but they’re not my thing, I think I’d probably get bored. But I do still think I’ve got a pretty decent list of books that I’m sure will get you in the Halloween spirit and keep you highly entertained čÖé

Some cute contemporaries you need to read!

Hello and howdy!

Today I come to you with a list of 4 super sweet and adorable contemporary novels.

I definitely don’t think any of these are “the best books ever written” but not every book needs to be a masterpiece. They have their flaws but I think there’s a chance that they’ll make you smile which is so much more important čÖé
