It’s spooky season! Here’s what you should read.

Hey and hello, happy Halloween weekend!!

I have no idea what I’m going to be doing this weekend. There’s a bunch of parties all over campus that I’m sure I’ll end up being dragged to. Honestly, I’m good with staying in bed all weekend watching scary movies and reading on-theme books.

If, like me, you’d rather spend the night inside then I have a list of recommendations for books that would be perfect to read this weekend. (Or just whenever. These are all good books!)

I feel like a lot of these are quite popular, but still, in the spirit of Halloween I’m going to keep things mysterious and just give a super brief overview of each book and let you make your own mind by reading them!

Trying to be an audiobook kinda girl but I need recommendations!

I have been anti-audiobook for years now. Not because I actually have anything against audiobooks but because I have the attention span of a pea and have just never been able to stay focused.

That all changed recently however when I was faced with a lot of travel and knew my eyes would not survive reading that much. And so I invested in Audible and so far it’s been a success! (When I’m back at uni in the UK I’m gonna see if my local library has Libby btw).

The only problem now is that I don’t really know what audiobooks I want to read. Today I thought I’d talk a little about what I’ve already read and what few books I think I might like.

Already Read!

The two audiobooks I’ve read that opened my eyes to the fact that yes, I can actually read audiobooks have both been autiobiograpies narrated by the authors themselves – I’m Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy and Mox by Jon Moxley.

What I’ve Been Watching … #8

Hello. I am tired.

My study abroad uni has this cool thing where on a random day in the fall semester they cancel classes and everyone goes to the lake for the day.

The down side to this is, despite the busses not leaving til 10am, they wake everyone up at 5am. Add a day in the sun, kayaking and swimming, to the 5am wake up call and me still having homework to do for tomorrow’s classes, what ends up happening is me being exhausted.

My eyes are literally closing as I’m writing this and all I want to do is curl up in bed … but my roommate has friends over watching a movie and I didn’t have the social capacity to deal with new people right now.

And so here I am wrapping up everything I’ve been watching recently. I’ve not done one of these in a while and I’ve watched a lot so I’m just gonna jump right into it.

Bullet Train

You ever read a book or watch a movie that scratches an itch inside your brain you didn’t know you had? That’s how this movie made me feel.

If you haven’t read these 2021 releases, you should!

Hello👋I just got back from uni where the same girl who said I reminded her of a “golden retriever who’s just happy to be here” a couple of weeks ago, today said I reminded her of a “languid capybara”. I have many questions, the main one being: Am I being bullied and I just don’t realise or care??

I’ve sent this question circling around my friends but I just wanted to share that here as well because I’m still confused and trying to process.

Anyways, moving away from the animals I apparently remind people of, I’m here to talk about 2021 releases you should read if you haven’t already!!

I did this for 2020 releases just a couple of months ago. I was also planning on leaving this post til the end of the year but I’ve already read a bunch of 2021 releases I want to recommend. I’ve got even more on my TBR so this is probably part one, with part two coming later in the year.
