April Wrap Up

Helloooo 🙂

I don’t know how but it’s that time again where I talk all about the books I read this month. I had a pretty lofty TBR for April and I read approximately two of those books.

My reading was pretty all over the place this month and in terms of quantity but sadly it was pretty “meh” in terms of quality. Because of how random the books are I’ve split them into groups to try and bring some order to this wrap up.

The “meh” books.

The first book I read this month was Serious Moonlight by Jenn Bennett and it was disappointing. I did a whole review for it but in short: I love Jenn Bennett but I didn’t love this book. It liked the representation: a hard of hearing boy with Japanese heritage and a girl with narcolepsy, but I didn’t care much about the romance. There wasn’t much chemistry between the characters, Birdie and Daniel, at least compared to other Bennett books, and they felt kind of cringey at times.

I was in the mood for some cheesy “oh my god I have superpowers” and “oh my god I’m the most powerful witch to ever exist” read and so I read The Lost Witch by Chandelle LaVaun. . I was hoping for a guilty pleasure read but I basically skim read this. It just wasn’t what I wanted and I barely remember anything that happened (besides lots of characters with very modern American names). Continue reading “April Wrap Up”

Happy Easter // Book Tag 🐰🌸

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog.

So yesterday was Easter something I didn’t realise until I skyped my 5 year old sister and she showed me her mountain of Easter Eggs. I’m not religious or anything but I live opposite a church so it’s weird not to hear the bells ring a million times a day or watch the parade that leaves from there.

Anyways today I am going to be doing the Easter Time Book Tag, originally created by Theresa @ The Calico Books … and then I’m going to go eat my own chocolate egg.

Easter Eggs: Name a book that feels like a hidden gem

I really haven’t seen many people talk about talk about These Witches Don’t Burn by Isabelle Sterling which is wrong because it’s gay elemental witches with great humour.

On one hand I’m glad I get to keep it all to myself but on the hand I want everyone to read this ASAP!

Bloom: A debut novel you loved.

I’ve loved way more debut novels then I even realised so in the face of a long list I’m going with my most recent which was The Devouring Grey by Christine Lynn Herman.

This wasn’t the best book in the world but it was fun and I raced through it in one day.

I’m also currently re-reading Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston and I refuse to believe this is a debut because it’s just so good!

I’m being overly ambitous // April TBR

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog!

I’ve been umm-ing and ahh-ing about whether or not I want to make a TBR this month because I don’t know what to read! Actually no. That’s not the problem. This problem is that I have so much I want to read that I can’t decide what I want to read first.

My TBR is pretty long this month so I doubt I’ll be able to get all of them, although lockdown continues until the 26th at the very least so who knows. I’m only going to be talking about the physical books that I own in this TBR as well even though I do have a few arcs and e-books I’m thinking of reading.

Authors A-Z: A-B-C-D-E // Top 5 Tuesday

aaaa

Hi, hey, hello and happy Tuesday!

I am so excited for this months round of Top 5 Tuesday topics going through the alphabet and talking all about authors. I’m sure I’m going to be as uncreative as possible but I’m looking forward to talking about some of my faves.

I’ve decided to use authors first names as I go through the alphabet this month just because. I have literally no reasoning behind this decision.

Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Shannah @ Bionic Book Worm.

A book hangover is worse than a real hangover // Top 5 Tuesday

Hi, hey, hello and happy Tuesday.

I just found out my school trip to Italy next week has been cancelled due to the North of Italy being on lockdown and quarantine due to the Coronavirus. Yay.😂 And here I thought the most I’d have to worry about was rooming with the popular mean girls.

I just find it funny that the one time I try something outside of my comfort zone that yeah I was super nervous about but also really excited for gets cancelled because of the country is under quarantine.

Moving on from that though, let’s talk about this weeks Top 5 Tuesday topic: Books that gave me a book hangover. I’d really like to get drunk enough to have a hangover right now but I’m not 18 and my parents are both out of the country so they can’t buy me any. Woop.

💕Valentines Day Recommendations💕

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog.

It’s nearly Valentines day. Woo. That might be more exciting to me if I liked romance and also if I didn’t have two exams this week (Greek and Philosophy. Kill me now) but I plan on milking the occasion for as many blog posts as possible so please enjoy.

Today I’m handing out my unwanted opinion on what books I recommend you read for all those good romancey feels 🙂

Tweet Cute by Emma Lord

I have not shut up about this book since receiving an ARC before the new  year and for good reason.

This book follows Pepper and Jack, two classmates at an elite New York school who inadvertently get involved in a twitter war with each other on behalf of their familys grilled cheese businesses.

This book is: cute, funny, adorable. I really loved the progress of the romance and how there was no unnecessary relationship drama and both Jack and Pepper were very mature. I cannot recommend this book enough. Continue reading “💕Valentines Day Recommendations💕”

My favourite reads of 2019!

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog 🙂

So yesterday I talked all about my least favourite reads of 2019(which I stupidly titled 2020 and only just realised my mistake because I’m an idiot) and I really went to town on them. Today however is a positive vibes only zone as I’m going to be talking about the best of the bunch. giphy

I read 83 books this year, completely surpassing my intended goal of 60. I’m actually currently reading 2 more, one of which I plan on finishing as soon as I’m done writing this post, and yet I’ve got 9 books to talk about today.

My criteria for picking my “favourites” is based solely off of pure enjoyment. I’ve chosen books which, even all these months later, I’m still thinking about, I’m still excited about and overall I’m’ still in love with.

Any and all book reviews I’ve written this year can all be found HERE.

And finally before I start I just want to say that these are in chronological of when I read them and not by rank or rating or anything like that 🙂

black-and-white-flowers-tumblr-transparent-12Queen of Air & Darkness by Cassandra Clare

9781471116704Queen of Air & Darkness was the second book I read this year and although it’s an absolute beast of a book I flew through it in just 3 days!

Yes some of the plot decisions were … odd and questionable *cough* Thule. Angelic Giants *cough* but I can’t deny that I had a great time reading.

This book made me feel so much. I sobbed in the beginning for about five chapters straight and that was just the beginning of my tears as the story progressed. I came to love so many new characters with this trilogy and I’m cautiously anticipating future instalments of this universe. Continue reading “My favourite reads of 2019!”

Did I Read my Most Anticipated Reads of 2019?

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog 🙂

So today I thought we’d take a walk down memory lane and have a look to see if I read my Most Anticipated 2019 releases and my Intriguing Releases of 2019 which was a list of books I knew next to nothing about but the covers or a quick glance over the synopsis had me interested.

I’m looking forward to seeing what I thought and if I even still want to read some of them.

12 Days of Christmas // Book Tag

IHi, hey, hello and Merry Christmas!!!

I am oftumblr_pjh8llKjhV1uutnkko1_500ficially done with exams for this term, I’m just waiting on my final grades which come tomorrow which means I am now in full Christmas mode.

My mum made the foolish decision to keep the boxes of chocolates, reserved solely for Christmas, in my room and forgive me mother for I have sinned but I’ve been dipping into them … and hiding the evidence in my school bag.

Christmas needs to hurry up and arrive before I steal anymore and there’s none left come Christmas eve when we’re finally aloud to eat them. If she finds out I don’t think I’ll survive through to the new year.

Anyways I’m doing the 12 days of Christmas book tag even though, yes, there is now only one week left to go. Maybe I should ask for the gift of time management for Christmas.

❄On the first day of Christmas, my true love game to me: a partridge in a pear tree❄

The Partridge stood alone in the pear tree. What is your favourite stand alone?

17235448

I don’t know if this is necessarily my favourite stand alone but its the first stand alone I had ever really read and it’s one of the books that helped convince me I could and would like things outside just popular urban fantasy and for that it holds a special place in my heart. My Favourite Characters of 2019

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog 🙂

So today I am talking about My Favourite Characters of 2019. I wasn’t going to do a post like this but then I started thinking about some of the new characters I’ve come to love this year and in the end I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to talk about them.
