Authors A-Z: K-L-M-N-O // Top 5 Tuesday

aaaa

Hi, hey, hello and happy Tuesday!

So today we’re back for another round of Authors A-Z ๐Ÿ™‚ But first โ€ฆ Lockdown Update. Feel free to skip to the good bits but I think it would be pretty cool to have this documented because everything that’s going on right now is crazy.

  • Today is day 2 or day 3 of lockdown? I don’t actually know when it officially began but no family arguments have kicked off yet.
  • Online classes are … great? Yesterday morning I woke up at 8. Stayed in bed to check my french class at 8:30. Showered super chill before doing my Latin homework for that day then did Latin & Greek class over WhatsApp for 2 hours. Fun.
  • I’m sending TikToks to anyone and everyone. I may be addicted.
  • I finished an ARC and I’m watching the last episode of Elite season 2 as I type.
  • We played Monopoly. I won. Nobody cried. A miracle!
  • And a super sweet thing everyone is doing is at 8pm we all go out on our balconies and give a huge, well deserved round of applause to the medical personal.

But anyways, moving on from that. Let’s jump into authors K-O

12 Days of Christmas // Book Tag

IHi, hey, hello and Merry Christmas!!!

I am oftumblr_pjh8llKjhV1uutnkko1_500ficially done with exams for this term, I’m just waiting on my final grades which come tomorrow which means I am now in full Christmas mode.

My mum made the foolish decision to keep the boxes of chocolates, reserved solely for Christmas, in my room and forgive me mother for I have sinned but I’ve been dipping into them โ€ฆ and hiding the evidence in my school bag.

Christmas needs to hurry up and arrive before I steal anymore and there’s none left come Christmas eve when we’re finally aloud to eat them. If she finds out I don’t think I’ll survive through to the new year.

Anyways I’m doing the 12 days of Christmas book tag even though, yes, there is now only one week left to go. Maybe I should ask for the gift of time management for Christmas.

โ„On the first day of Christmas, my true love game to me: a partridge in a pear treeโ„

The Partridge stood alone in the pear tree. What is your favourite stand alone?

I don’t know if this is necessarily my favourite stand alone but its the first stand alone I had ever really read and it’s one of the books that helped convince me I could and would like things outside just popular urban fantasy and for that it holds a special place in my heart. UK vs US Book Covers

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog.

Today I am pitting two nations against each other. Over the past few years England and America have gone head to head to see who can fuck up their countries and their governments the most and so I thought I’d also make them go head to head and see who has the better book covers of some of my favourite books.

Call Down the Hawk by Maggie Stiefvater

K. So I technically haven’t read this yet but I have a strong feeling I’m going to love this because of course I’m going to love a whole book of Ronan Lynch and also, I just really wanted a good excuse to talk about this UK cover (left). Continue reading “UK vs US Book Covers”

Back to school book tag – can someone send me back to nursery please.

large (1)

Hello and happy Thursday and welcome to my blog ๐Ÿ™‚

Today I come to you with the Back to School Book Tag because as I’ve mentioned in literally every one of this weeks posts I am back at school!

This week has been my first week of college and it’s had its highs and it’s lows featuring numerous stress headaches just two days in but, as I sit here writing this, today went quite well. We’re officially getting into classes and I’ve been socialising more with friends which feels nice. That’s an incredibly sad thing to say but I’m usually the girl sat at the back all by myself because I get too anxious and nervous, so actually joking around with people has been fun.

This is my schedule for the year so not too bad although I am forever pissed that I have P.E first hour on a bloody Friday. Exercise at 8:30 in the morning! I genuinely can’t think of anything worse.

English- Name your favourite authors writing style.

For this first question I’ve chosen Laura Steven. I’ve only read the The Exact Opposite of Okay duology from her so far but I absolutely loved the writing style. It was hilarious, witty and so easy to read. Continue reading “Back to school book tag – can someone send me back to nursery please.”

The “Get to Know Me” Book Tag // My 1 Year Blogger-versary!!!

Hi, hello and welcome to my blog!

Today is a day of celebration. It’s been a whole year since I started this blog.

celebration.gif

It’s my bloggerversary and I’m probably spelling that extremely wrong but I feel like terrible spelling is a staple of my blogposts. To celebrate it being a year of me being annoying as hell I decided to do the “Get to know me” Book Tag because in the beginning I never really talked about myself because anxiety ๐Ÿ™‚

A little bit about me

My names Elli. I’m 17 and originally from East Yorkshire with the accent to prove it but I’ve been living in Spain since I was ten (although I do not have the tan to prove that). This September I start the Spanish equivalent of 6th form and I am shitting myself.

I have three siblings, two brothers and a sister, all younger, two of which live back in the UK. I also have three pets who I would die for: Fudge, Poppet and Kit-Kat.

And now that you’ve been blessed with these incredible and majestic photos let’s jump into the tag: Continue reading “The “Get to Know Me” Book Tag // My 1 Year Blogger-versary!!!”

Instant Buy Authors

Hello and welcome to my blog ๐Ÿ™‚

Today I’m going to be talking about a few of my Instant Buy Authors. I will be leaving out the more obvious ones like Rick Riordan and Cassandra Clare. I sold my soul to these two authors years ago and it doesn’t need to be mentioned again.

But joining the ranks of “people who own my soul” are:

1- Karen M. McManus

A-B-C-D-E // Top 5 Tuesday

Hello and Happy Tuesday!

For this next month and hopefully following months I’ve decided to take part in Top 5 Tuesday which is hosted by Shanah @ Bionic Book . The theme for this month is all books that start with the following letters of the alphabet.

ย Again But Better by Christine Riccio

When I received an ARC for this courtesy of Netgalley I shit you not I screamed. I was so excited about reading this. Granted that excitement went away as soon as I actually started reading it but in recent weeks I’ve come to have a new appreciation for this book. Its bad it really it however I find reading other peoples reviews so entertaining that I have to give it props. Just the overall ridiculousness of this book and the reviews that include sentences like “a clusterfuck of quirky nonsense” keep me so entertained. Continue reading “A-B-C-D-E // Top 5 Tuesday”

March Wrap Up

bg5

Hello and welcome to my blog.

I’ve really been loving doing wrap up’s so far this year because I’m always surprised at how much I actually got read during the month and I’m loving it!

This month I, again, did pretty well with a total of six and a half books read! And out of those six, four of them are off my physical TBR which is so much better then last month where I only read one physical book.

(How is my physical TBR going to shrink if I don’t read off of it and keep buying more books?!)

March TBR

Its a new month and I’ve got a new TBR. I’m surprised to be back with another monthly TBR to be honest, but I read every single book I planned for in February and I have a list of what I want to get to in March so why not? A little structure in my life can’t hurt.

I feel like I’m being overly ambitious again. I have four physical reads and two ARCS on this list. Usually March is a month where my time is occupied with exams so I don’t know how many I’ll get too but I’m hoping all of them.

My Favourite Books of 2018

The other day I was a total Negative Nancy with me listing 5 of the worst books I’d read in 2018 but today I’m being a down right Positive Patricia and talking about 10 of my favourite books from this past year and I am so excited.

For the record none of these are in any particular order just how I wrote them down in my lil notebook ๐Ÿ™‚ Continue reading “My Favourite Books of 2018”
