My Favourite Quotes & Moments: Call Down the Hawk!

Hello and howdy. Welcome to my blog.

I’m supposed to be sleeping right now. Or at the very least trying to. I’ve got to get up to take my dogs to the vet tomorrow. I’ve also got a cold so sleep is probably exactly what my body needs.

Am I going to give my body what it needs? No. Of course not. That would make life too easy. To be fair, my body isn’t making it easy. As soon as I got in bed I became wide awake and also started coughing.

Instead of trying to sleep I’m here to say that I’m re-reading Call Down the Hawk by Maggie Stiefvater. It feels like a life-time ago when this was my most anticipated release of the year. It came out in 2019, pre-pandmeic so I suppose in some ways it was a life-time ago. With the recent release of the sequel, Mister Impossible, I decided to revisit and also share my favourite quotes & moments:

*Spoilers*

“Were there other Lynches? It seems unlikely. Lynches appeared to be very good at dying”

This line, on the very first page, scares me. It sounds like a threat.

Translating my favourite books into Emojis!

Helloooo.

So this is 100% not my own original idea!!! I was tagged recently by Sabrina @ Notes From a Paper Plane Nomad to do the Liebster Award recently and one of the questions she’d given for me to answer was: Translate the title of your favourite book into emojis! Or even a gifset!

I loved this question so much that I decided to do it for a few more books! But yes, all credit goes to Sabrina cause she’s the one with the amazing brain who came up with this 🙂

Harry Potter: ⚡🏰🚂🧙‍♂️

We’ve got a lightning bolt for Harry’s scar, what I hope you also see as a castle which clearly represents Hogwarts, an old timey train for the Hogwarts Express, and a wiz-end old sorcerer that has a remarking resemblance to Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore.

Percy Jackson: 🧜‍♂️🗡⛺🌊🙏

Percy is the son of the sea-god Poseidon who in some of the images I just googled has a mermaid like tail so there we go. That’s Poseidon. Then we have a sword for Riptide, the closest thing I could get to camping which represents Camp Half-Blood, a wave because … water ??? and the praying emoji because the neglected demigod kids pray to their godly parents quite a lot throughout the books. The High School Musical Book Tag (aka me living my best life)

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog.

I am doing something super exciting today: The High School Musical Book Tag.

High School Musical was my entire Childhood! I had a HSM lunch box, a Gabriella doll, all the DVDs and CDs (including the concert version) which I played on a loop, my primary school had a High School Musical singing club and we performed “Breaking Free” during an assembly and I went to cinema to watch the third movie.

I watched these movies so much that even my parents know all the words.

And so believe me when I say I jumped up and down in my chair with excitement (which I’m only slightly ashamed of) when I found out this was a book tag that existed.

I tried finding the original creator to this tag but I think that post has since been deleted because I can’t find it. Either way I’m super excited though to re-live my childhood today and combine it with books!

The Start of Something New: A new favourite genre/author/series

sosn

A new favourite author of mine is definitely Erin Hahn. I fell in love with her debut novel You’d Be Mine last year and my love for her multiplied when I read her sophomore novel More Than Maybe a month or two back. She writes such entertaining books filled with humour and music. I can’t wait for it’s official release and to read more from her. 12 Days of Christmas // Book Tag

IHi, hey, hello and Merry Christmas!!!

I am oftumblr_pjh8llKjhV1uutnkko1_500ficially done with exams for this term, I’m just waiting on my final grades which come tomorrow which means I am now in full Christmas mode.

My mum made the foolish decision to keep the boxes of chocolates, reserved solely for Christmas, in my room and forgive me mother for I have sinned but I’ve been dipping into them … and hiding the evidence in my school bag.

Christmas needs to hurry up and arrive before I steal anymore and there’s none left come Christmas eve when we’re finally aloud to eat them. If she finds out I don’t think I’ll survive through to the new year.

Anyways I’m doing the 12 days of Christmas book tag even though, yes, there is now only one week left to go. Maybe I should ask for the gift of time management for Christmas.

❄On the first day of Christmas, my true love game to me: a partridge in a pear tree❄

The Partridge stood alone in the pear tree. What is your favourite stand alone?

I don’t know if this is necessarily my favourite stand alone but its the first stand alone I had ever really read and it’s one of the books that helped convince me I could and would like things outside just popular urban fantasy and for that it holds a special place in my heart. Wrap Ups

July Wrap Up

bg5

Hello and happy August! There’s a chance I’ve already wished you a happy August already but I really don’t know. My posting schedule is all over the place at the minute and I have no idea what’s going on.

So as you can probably tell by the title of todays post I’m wrapping up most of the books I read in July! I’m pretty conflicted on how July went in terms of reading. I completed 7 books this month as well as three more during the Reading-Rush Readathon so it was good, however I have done literally nothing this month so I was hoping I would have read a bit more.

Anyways, time to jump into the 7 books I read. I’m not including books read during the Reading-Rush Readathon because I have a whole post dedicated to what I read and my overall experience which you can read: HERE :p

Completing my Raven Cycle Re-Read

The Summer Bucket List Book Tag

Hello and welcome to my blog!

Today I’m going to be doing The Summer Bucket List Book Tag. I wasn’t tagged to do this but I saw The Sassy Library Fox do this tag and it looked really fun so here I am 🙂

All I’ve done so far this summer is sleep a lot, eat a lot and read a lot. All fun for me personally but not very interesting so I’m living vicariously through this tag.

This tag was originally created by Read by Tiffany

✨Hit the Beach – A BOOK SET BY THE WATER✨

  • I was scared for a minute there that I didn’t have a book to fit this which, considering it’s the first question, would not be a good start but then I remembered: Summer Bird Blue by Akemi Dawn Bowman. I wasn’t madly in love with this book mainly due to the writing but this does take place in Hawaii with many beach/surfing scenes.

Hello and happy Wednesday!

Todays topic is Mother Figures. It actually took me a little longer to compile this list because to be honest most mums in fiction are either dead or just not that great.

The Perfect Book Tag

large (1)

Hello and happy Friday!

Today I’m doing The Perfect Book Tag which was created by Sofii at A Book. A Thought and I was tagged by Lauren at Narrative Reads. So thank you so much!

The Perfect Genre

What genre would your perfect book be?

 |🌈| Pick A Book That Represents Perfectly Its Genre |🌈|

For this I’m going with Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. Romance isn’t my thing because I cringe at any sort of romantic moment but this book was a perfect romance/contemporary.

It was full of level headed characters, great representation, the two love interests had other things going on besides just the romance and the romance itself was so healthy and adorable!!!
