Book Review: The Lost Book of the White by Cassandra Clare & Wesley Chu

Publication Date: September 1st 2020

Series: The Eldest Curses #2

Life is good for Magnus Bane and Alec Lightwood. They’re living together in a fabulous loft, their warlock son, Max, has started learning to walk, and the streets of New York are peaceful and quiet—as peaceful and quiet as they ever are, anyway.

Until the night that two old acquaintances break into Magnus’s apartment and steal the powerful Book of the White. Now Magnus and Alec will have to drop everything to get it back. They need to follow the thieves to Shanghai, they need to call some backup to accompany them, and they need a babysitter.

Also, someone has stabbed Magnus with a strange magical weapon and the wound is glowing, so they have that to worry about too.

What is even happening this month? // July TBR (kinda)

Hi and hello and hi.

Quick question: is anyone else not getting notifications for when they’re tagged or mentioned by other people or is that just me? If you’ve tagged me in anything recently and I’ve seemingly ignored you I’m sorry. My computer or this website is dumb.

Anyways today I am going to be talking about my plans for July. I have no idea what to expect from this month but here is a list of things I would like to accomplish:

1- Read some books.

What books? I’m not sure exactly. While in the past couple of months I’ve done well with setting myself a structured TBR that’s gone out of this window this time around.

mayhemI know for a fact I’ll be reading Mayhem by Estelle Laure as I am part of the blog tour next week. I’m not 100% clear on the synopsis but I believe it’s about a girl who discovers her family have powers, something along those lines. I’m not sure what to expect from this but this will be one of the next books I pick up.

I also have plans to read a lot of Jennifer Lynn Barnes booksdls this month. She’s one of my favourite authors so I want to begin my re-read of The Naturals, a series following teenage profilers working for the FBI, I want to read Deadly Little Scandals, a sequel I just haven’t gotten to yet all about southern debutantes with a hint of murder, and I also want to start reading her backlist series The Fixer, a duology about a girl who I believe becomes a political fixer.

Overall I’d say my reading plans for this month include a lot of re-reads. The Naturals, like I said, is one I want to start again but I also want to re-read Tales From The Shadowhunter Academy throughout July and begin my re-read of The Kane Chronicles a trilogy I’ve never actually completed which my friend, who is equally obsessed as me, find blasphemous. Books that made me laugh // Top 5 Tuesday

aaaa

Hi, hey, hello and happy Tuesday!

Today’s Top 5 Tuesday topic is: Books that made me laugh and I have a disclaimer before getting into the list: I have a terrible memory so these may not be as funny as I remember, I also have a terrible sense of humour. I blame my dad for this. We have a running joke about chickens wearing flipflops so … Be Warned.

Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm

Again But Better by Christine Riccio

This book wasn’t funny on purpose but it was funny none the less from the name of the love interest: Pilot Penn, to the terrible metaphors you can’t help but laugh at. The fun of the book doesn’t end with the last page either because the reviews for this because are just as entertaining.

The Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan

I’ve not re-read these in a while and it’s something I’ve really been wanting to do recently. My problem however is that I let someone borrow the first book years ago and I never got it back so now I’m 1 book down. I’m genuinely considering just starting from book 2 because these books are so funny even if they are geared at a younger audience they always make me laugh. My Favourite Characters of 2019

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog 🙂

So today I am talking about My Favourite Characters of 2019. I wasn’t going to do a post like this but then I started thinking about some of the new characters I’ve come to love this year and in the end I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to talk about them.

Malcolm Bright – Prodigal Son

My dream zombie fighting team // Top 5 Tuesday

aaaa

Hi, hey, hello and welcome to my blog.

So, there’s no official Top 5 Tuesday today but I’ve become quite attached to doing weekly top 5 lists so here I am.

This is going to be a pretty quick post because I have a history presentation to prepare for tomorrow plus a bunch of other hellish school related things to do. Instead of being clever and productive and doing those things yesterday …  I spent the day organizing my reviews. Yes I know stupid.

Anyways, time to talk about 5 characters I’d want to tag along with in the hypothetical case of a zombie apocalypse breaking out tomorrow:

Bucky Barnes (MCU)

idk when ill need this but im keeping it

The “Get to Know Me” Book Tag // My 1 Year Blogger-versary!!!

Hi, hello and welcome to my blog!

Today is a day of celebration. It’s been a whole year since I started this blog.

It’s my bloggerversary and I’m probably spelling that extremely wrong but I feel like terrible spelling is a staple of my blogposts. To celebrate it being a year of me being annoying as hell I decided to do the “Get to know me” Book Tag because in the beginning I never really talked about myself because anxiety 🙂

A little bit about me

My names Elli. I’m 17 and originally from East Yorkshire with the accent to prove it but I’ve been living in Spain since I was ten (although I do not have the tan to prove that). This September I start the Spanish equivalent of 6th form and I am shitting myself.

I have three siblings, two brothers and a sister, all younger, two of which live back in the UK. I also have three pets who I would die for: Fudge, Poppet and Kit-Kat.

And now that you’ve been blessed with these incredible and majestic photos let’s jump into the tag: Continue reading “The “Get to Know Me” Book Tag // My 1 Year Blogger-versary!!!”

Spring Cleaning Book Tag

large (1)

Spring cleaning, something I seriously need to do! I am a naturally messy person, it stems from me being incredibly lazy and I just throw things all over my room and it builds and it builds. It’s a vicious cycle.

I saw this tag done by Lori’s Bookshelf Reads  and I thought it was perfect for hopefully getting me motivated to sort out my life and clean out my mess of a wardrobe

black-and-white-flowers-tumblr-transparent-121. The struggle of getting started:
A book or series you struggle to begin because of its size.

9781408872895One I previously struggled to start due to size was Throne of Glass because there are so many books in that series and each is bigger then the last. I’m happy to report I’m four books in. Currently I haven’t built up the nerve to read Poison Study because there are multiple trilogies to this series and that scares me.
