❄Top 5 Books I Read this Winter❄

Hello and welcome to my blog ☺

I got like 4 hours of sleep last night so I’m lagging but today we’re going back in time to have a look at what I’ve been reading over the last 3 months so I can chat a bit about my favourites. Collectively between December, January and February I read 27 books but it was actually super easy to assemble a list of my 5 favourites because a lot of what I read was either a re-read or just wasn’t anything special.

There’s a high chance I’ve talked about these books way too much already but I’m going to talk about them one more time for good measure.

Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Mansicalco.

This one I know for sure I’ve mentioned way too much and part of me is sorry, the other part really isn’t because it’s a good book that deserves the hype. I enjoyed this book so much that it prompted me to start reading the authors extremely popular series, Stalking Jack the Ripper, which I was 98% sure I wasn’t bothered about reading.

Black Covers – #5OnMyTBR

It’s Monday 😭 I just want to nap for another couple of days, is that too much to ask?

Death – #5OnMyTBR

Hello and happy Monday 🙂

It’s another month with a whole new set of prompts for #5OnMyTBR with this weeks prompt being death.

#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted by E. @Local Bee Hunter’s Nook (me!) and you can learn more about it here or in the post announcing it. It occurs every Monday when we post about 5 books on our TBR.

I’ve chosen books this week where death is the main driving force for the novel whether it be a big murder or a character grieving etc. I also only have 4 books on this list because I was struggling 😂

Turtle Under Ice by Juleah del Rosario

I haven’t heard anything about this recent February release and I’m mad about that because not only does it have a really pretty cover, it also sounds really interesting.

Turtle Under Ice follows a girl called Rowena (awesome name btw) as she navigates grief, guilt and her own identity in the wake of her sisters disappearance just a couple years after their mothers death.

I don’t really know what to expect from this because, like I said, I’ve heard nothing about it, but I’m intrigued.

Historical – #5OnMyTBR

Howdy and happy Monday! It’s an especially happy Monday today because here in Spain it’s a bank holiday meaning no school! As a tired student I would like to thank whoever created the idea of bank holidays. You’re the real hero of this story.

Today I am back with another round of #5OnMyTBR and today we’re talking all about Historical books.

#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted by E. @Local Bee Hunter’s Nook (me!) and you can learn more about it here or in the post announcing it. It occurs every Monday when we post about 5 books on our TBR.

I am taking three history classes this year: Art History, Spanish History and History of Philosophy, (four if you count my Latin class), so you’d think I’d be into historical fiction novels but alas, I barely ever read them.

While Historical Fiction is one of my least favourite genres I am interested in reading more I just got to find my personal sweet spot within the genre and I think these books I’m about to talk about could be that.

This Is Not the Jess Show by Anna Carey

We’re starting off this list with an odd one because while this does have historical themes, this book is actually set in the future!

This is Not the Jess Show is basically a YA version of The Truman Show in that it’s a thriller novel about a girl whose life has been one big production, filmed and broadcasted to the world without her knowing.

The historical themes of this and why I’m including it on this list is because it’s kind of but kind of not set in the 90’s. It’s hard to explain so I’ll just say GO READ THIS BOOK WHEN IT COMES OUT!!

I got an ARC of this and I’m currently reading it and I am loving it but I’m unclear on the release date. Goodreads says November 2020, Netgalley says January 2021 so who knows!

✨Magic✨- #5OnMyTBR

Hi, hey, hello!! Happy Monday 🙂

Why does productivity strike at the absolute worst time? It’s currently 2am. I’ve not long finished my shift and instead of trying to sleep so I can power through on all of my homework tomorrow I am sat here, eating Cheerios, catching up on YouTube drama and I’m about to talk all about Magic Books!!!

A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik

This book is beautiful and I have all of my fingers crossed that the insides are just as good.

A Deadly Education is set at a school for the magically gifted called “The Scholomance” where learning has never been so deadly. Other then that I know that the main character is called El but that’s about it.

I’ve seen people reading this and God I’m so jealous. I’m sticking this on my Christmas list so I probably won’t get to it for a few months but I’m excited.

Red Covers – #5OnMyTBR

(still not used to the new set up so something went dodgy with my scheduling over the weekend so sorry for anyone seeing this twice lol)

Hello and happy Monday 😊

Tis my last week of sweet, sweet freedom before school starts so I’m being productive today (getting ahead on reviews, planning out a blog schedule, taking my dog to the vets) so that I can spend the rest of my time sleeping and reading.

Today I’m back with another round of #5OnMyTBR! Today’s theme is Red Covers and I struggled. At the minute I have 4 on this list so we’ll see if I can think up a fourth by thetime I reach the end.

1) Midnight Sun by Stephanie Meyer

The existence of this book is more evidence to the fact that I’m a psychic. No joke I read the 2008 leaked version of this only a couple of weeks before the official announcement of this being published. PSYCHIC!!

If you’re somehow not aware, this book is a retelling of Twilight from Edwards point of view. Something I genuinely asked the universe for. Proof of this is HERE in this blog post.

I am thankfully saved from spending way too much on this beast of a book because my best friend bought it however she preffers Audiobooks so I’m keeping it at my house away from her sister and I plan on starting this soon.

I’m actually planning on annotating this for my friend, leaving sarcastic comments and things to make it more entertaining for the both of us.

(I don’t have many red covers. There’s a significant amount of red on this cover. It counts)

☀Top 5 Books I Read This Summer☀

Hello and howdy.

Summer is over and I’m now officially on countdown for going back to school. I go back to school in less then a week and yet I still have no idea what’s happening and neither do my teachers😂. Gotta love the Spanish school system.

Anyway. With the summer now coming to a close it’s time to take a look back and talk about the best books I read over these past three months.

Throughout June, July & August I read a whopping 38 books. That is absolutely crazy to me and yet I’ve narrowed down my 5 favourite which I’m going to be talking about today:)

Me by Elton John

I can’t believe I read this back in June. That feels like forever ago!

Is this because I’ve read so many other books since then or is my sense of time just incredibly warped? Probably both tbh.

Top 5 books to read this summer☀ // Top 5 Tuesday

aaaa

Hello and happy Tuesday 🙂 So I’m running on three hours sleep right now so I apologise in advance. Saying that though I did survive a kind of important exam earlier this morning so I’m sure this will be a walk in the park in comparison with that.

Today’s Top 5 Tuesday topic is top 5 books to read this summer. I can’t believe its summer already. God this year is so dodgy but here’s what I’m recommending to read while we’re all sunbathing in face masks 🙂

🍂Top 3 Books I read this Autumn🍂

Hello and welcome to my blog!

I pulled a 10pm till 2am shift last night and let me tell you those are the weirdest hours I’ve ever worked and it’s left me feeling all disorientated with time and space. Although I should be studying for my final round of exams I just can’t get in the concentration studying mood and so I thought I’d talk about My favourite Autumn reads before jumping into Spanish literature.

I’ve done a couple of these seasonal wrap ups at this point and normally I do a list of my top 5 but sadly there’s just not five books that are all on the same level of greatness. I am happy with the three books I’ve chosen to talk about though.

5 Book’s I Would Re-Write // Top 5 Tuesday

aaaa

Hi, hey, hello and happy Tuesday 🙂

Todays Top 5 Tuesday is all about rewriting books and at first I thought this topic was going to be really hard but I came up with my list in about five minutes. I have a lot of things I want to change.

Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Shanah @ The Bionic Book Worm

Shadow & Bone by Leigh Bardugo

9781510105249

I mentioned in my review of this book that I hated Mal with a vengeance and wanted him to die. Yes I was that dramatic. So if I could re-write this book that’s what I’d do. If I had my way he’d have been eaten during the first few chapters and I wouldn’t regret a single thing. Continue reading “5 Book’s I Would Re-Write // Top 5 Tuesday”
